Check Your Pressure (The 2-Week Rule)

Correct inflation is the secret to long tyre life. Under-inflated tyres build up heat and can cause a blowout, while over-inflated tyres wear out quickly in the center.

  • Action: Check your tyre pressure every two weeks when the tyres are cold.

  • Pro Tip: You can find your vehicle’s correct PSI on the sticker inside your driver-side door or fuel flap.

Monitor Your Tread Depth

In South Africa, the legal limit for tread depth is 1.6mm. However, for safety in wet weather, we recommend replacing them sooner.

  • The Matchstick Test: If you can see the Tread Wear Indicator (TWI) bars (small bumps inside the grooves) level with the tread, it’s time for a change.

  • Safety First: Worn tyres significantly increase your braking distance on wet roads.

Alignment & Balancing

If your steering wheel vibrates or your car “pulls” to one side, your alignment is off.

  • Wheel Alignment: Prevents uneven “feathering” wear on the edges of the tyre.

  • Wheel Balancing: Ensures the tyre spins smoothly without wobbling at high speeds.

Rotate Every 8,000 km – 10,000 km

Front tyres usually wear out faster because they handle the steering and most of the braking force.

  • The Benefit: Regular rotation ensures all four tyres wear down evenly, saving you money by extending the life of the full set.
